Mix and Match Outfit Ideas
Putting together an outfit can be fun and sometimes challenging. In todays blog, I will show how one item can be paired in multiple ways. When building an outfit, I am usually inspired by a specific item and it takes off from there. Today you get to come along for the ride.
I was really pulled by this blue floral print slip dress. I particularly love the colors and the silkiness of the fabric. I chose Items that can be worn over the dress as I’m not a fan of just throwing a t-shirt underneath spaghetti straps. Paired with a stripe cropped sweater is print on print but it goes well and it’s out of the ordinary. The second option is a tie front denim shirt which gives a more casual vibe. The last option is a white cropped shirt which is super summery and easy.
I saw this great slip skirt in a color that I really love and I set out from there to style it… so here we go. A beautiful sweater is a no brainer, the colors go great and brightens up the skirt. An oversized blazer with either a cream or black base layer is always a go. I love the idea of a cropped sweater on top of a white button down top to go with this skirt.
I absolutely love this brown metallic midi skirt. The color is current, and the shine gives it a little extra pop! The Ralph Lauren bear sweater is a perfect coloring for this skirt, and I love how a casual sweater with a dressy skirt is a bit surprising. This leather vest is a great addition to your wardrobe, paired with a black and white t-shirt or turtleneck it will look great with this skirt. The brown striped knit polo gives this skirt more of a summery vibe.
I know this is the same skirt in silver but it gives a totally different vibe because the color is much more summery. To start, I paired it with a simple gray sweatshirt which is a great tone on tone look and it dresses down the skirt (in the summer this can be swapped out for grey heather t-shirt.) The next top is amazing! The picture does not do it justice. It would look great tucked in. Last, I paired it with a light blue cropped blouse, so summery and the color goes great with silver.
Here I posted a navy slip skirt with three top options (this skirt can easily be swapped out for a dark denim skirt.) First, a super classic stripe and slightly oversized sweater which goes great with a slim skirt. Next, we have an adorable plaid swingy top with lace edging. Last is a stripe knit sweater by Ulla Johnson, it’s pricey but it’s what I call a knockout piece. It can be worn all year round and there is something special about their knits.
Just a couple of points about this blog:
The beauty of these pairings are how they are all interchangeable! White top with the bronze skirt? Absolutely! Silver skirt with a denim top? Why not! Plaid top with brown skirt goes too. Gray sweatshirt with an olive skirt? I love it! The options are endless. So have fun pairing up.
I didn’t post anything black here, there are endless options on how to style a black top or skirt. I will do a blog in the future which gives you that amazing top to make your basic black skirt pop. But here are just a few…
